Which food, when you eat it, instantly transports you to childhood?
When I was younger my mum would bake this pie. She was a great cook and her seasoning would fill the house thyme, white pepper and paprika.
The onions, peppers and garlic would be fried in a pan. Then she would add the corned beef and cook it down.
She would add the mash potato. The pastry was placed in a huge 3 inch deep tray. The cooked ingredients added covered with pastry and baked in the oven.
This meal was served with garden peas. There was always enough for our family of 8 and we could have seconds.
